It is already possible to send audio to CA network players from LMS by AirPlay, Chromecast and UPnP-AV ... so I can understand is this is seen as low on the list of things to do.
But there are issues ... for example AirPlay and Chromecast could change and become incompatible with the LMS "Bridge" plugins (or have expired certificates and break ... see current Chromecast Audio device issue). Sync with other LMS players does not work with UPnP and Chromecast.
Squeezelite is open source and embeddable. A CA competitor has included it in their players during 2024 and appear to now have around 1,800 installations connecting to a local LMS.
