New Beta Update (4.3.0) Now Available

Hi everyone, We’re excited to share that a new update is now available for our Beta testers. This release introduces improvements, and refinements designed to enhance the StreamMagic experience. As always, thank you for being part of the Beta Programme and helping us shape the future of the app. What’s new in this update: · Improved first-time experience – Welcome and onboarding screens have been refreshed to make getting started clearer and more intuitive. · More precise EQ control (for Gen4 devices) – EQ adjustments now include visible frequency values for greater precision and control over your sound. · Redesigned Settings section – The Settings layout has been updated for a more consistent experience across the app. · Update to the Beta Programme – The Beta app is now the single entry point for all beta testing, replacing Early Update. · Various behind-the-scenes improvements and bug fixes. StreamMagic app version: 4.3.0 (no unit firmware update required). What’s next We know many of you are waiting for more feature-rich updates and bigger releases. We want to reassure you that we’re actively working on these improvements, and you can expect more significant feature updates later this year. Updates to the Cambridge Beta Programme We’re making some important updates to the Cambridge Beta Programme to simplify how beta testing works across both the StreamMagic app and device firmware, and to remove confusion that has existed between different testing paths. Previously, there were two separate ways of accessing beta software: “Early Update” for device firmware The StreamMagic Beta app We’ve found that this split approach sometimes created confusion within the community. To make things clearer and more consistent, we are streamlining the experience. What is changing? From now on: Early Update will be removed from the app settings The Cambridge Beta section in the “More” tab will become the entry point for beta participation – you can also join Beta here: Cambridge Beta Programme | Cambridge Audio UK The Beta app will become the single trigger for Beta firmware updates Why are we making this change? The goal of the Beta Programme is to ensure testers are using a complete beta ecosystem - both the app and the firmware. By aligning the two: The Beta app will check whether your device is running Beta firmware If needed, it will guide you through updating to the correct Beta version This ensures a consistent and reliable testing environment The Beta Programme will continue to run in defined testing periods throughout the year, rather than being continuously active. Outside of these periods, we recommend using the standard app and firmware for the most stable everyday experience. What does this mean for you? If you are currently using Early Update only, this option will no longer be available If you are already part of the Beta app testing group, nothing changes. If you are not, you should join the Cambridge Beta Programme to continue testing early software. If you are not interested in testing, no action is needed - your device will continue running standard public releases as normal Where can I find Beta now? You can access the programme via this link : Cambridge Beta Programme | Cambridge Audio UK A note on Early Update removal We know this is a change for some users. However, removing Early Update helps simplify the experience and ensures that beta testing is consistent, predictable, and easier to manage for everyone. Performance improvements & bug fixes: Improved support for M3U playlist playback Improved browsing experience for USB media after standby restart Improved visibility of attached USB media when switching between devices Improved device discovery for Gen 2 and Gen 3 units Improved reliability of verification email delivery during sign-in Improved reliability of the “Listening On” experience on the Now Playing screen Smoother device switching experience within music services Improved preset saving from the Now Playing screen Improved EQ responsiveness after Light/Dark mode changes Improved custom EQ preset naming experience on Android Improved support for larger text sizes in Polish Improved Korean language support and naming consistency Improved visibility of Audio Sources setup guidance for new users Improved in-app notifications for playback skip limits Improved accessibility of menu controls across the app Cleaner device selection experience Improved alignment of the Volume Control interface Improved visibility of the Clear History option in Search History Improved visibility of the “Edit” option in Sources Updated TV (eARC) source icon appearance in Light and Dark mode Updated Standby icon display on Mini Player and Now Playing screens Improved album artwork appearance in Media Library Improved visual consistency of the top navigation area Updated and refined text across the Feedback section Happy listening, Agata

Active VS. Passive Speakers

We've been making passive speakers and amplifiers for decades, so when we decided to make active speakers, we wanted to get it right. Alex and Oscar sit down to talk through the key differences between active and passive, who each type suits, and take a closer look at the L/R range. Worth a watch if you're exploring your options! Also really worth listening to these in person, as I genuinely think you're going to love them. Anyone got their eye on an orange pair? 👀

Bluetooth

Hello! I’m hoping someone can direct me in the right direction. I have an axn10 hardwired to the internet. Almost every time I open the app it pops up a Bluetooth setting notification and I have to close it. I know, not a big deal but I don’t use Bluetooth for anything with music and don’t want to. How do I turn it off permanently. Thanks. I did try a limited search and didn’t find anything support page shows search unavailable.🤷‍♂️

Radio Paradise Mellow Mix

After playing flawlessly for months on my CXN V2, Radio Paradise Mellow Mix stopped streaming this morning and won't restart. I've tried playing it through StreamMagic and the http: route but to no avail. I have done a power off reboot. The other Radio Paradise streams seem fine. I can also confirm that the Mellow Mix plays fine on my Wiim streamer. Have other users experienced this?

Melomania APP instable (vers. 2.5.2)

Hi, I’m a very enthusiastic user of my A100, but recently the app has become quite unstable. It seems to lose the Bluetooth connection intermittently (sometimes after just a few minutes). In addition, it does not always display the battery levels or the codec information. I’ve also noticed that in some cases changes in the LDAC settings and equalizer menus are not applied properly. For reference, I’m using a Samsung S23+ with Android 16 and One UI 8.5. Any ideas on what might be causing this? Thanks in advance, Fabiano

I started with Cambridge, now finished with Cambridge

A long long time ago, a humble little Cambridge Audio Amplifier became my first separates unit. Recently this Cambridge Audio Azur 851N has become my last piece. It has fit into the system beautifully.

BBC stations on Saturday lunchtime.

Did anyone else lose all BBC stations from around 12pm to 3pm on Saturday? All other stations were working fine, whether from presets or StreamMagic. Using MXN10/AXN10 streamers.

Automatically switch off the Evo 150

My de lorean switches itself off by listening via tv after 10 -15 min. I can’t switch on, neither on the Evo nor on the FB. I have to replug from the power, wait a few minutes, than I can switch on the power and the Evo works well. What can I do? Sorry for my English 🤔

Suggestions

Feature ideas from the people who use our products most.
I like the VU meters but they are just too bright, it would be nice if there was a dark mode.
8
In addition to the existing VU Meter option, we'd like to see a more digital frequency analyser type visualisation.
6
No need to find and open the app, we'd like basic control of our player from the home screen of our phone or tablet.
14
The Evo screen shows lots of information, but is practically unreadable due to its small font size. It would be lovely to be able to change the font size of the track title, artist and album title. Currently, it's just too small and a lot of space is wasted. Or optimise the font size to the width of the screen, with a min/max font size to keep it tidy.

I know we have Spotify, tidal and others with a direct connect, it would be really good if we could connect directly to Apple Music to make full use of lossless etc to get the music streamed at full potential resolution. I know eversolo do it (as a web based workaround) but I’d love it for my Cambridge Evo 150.

THIBAULT & other members have mentioned that they would like to see the LDAC codec implemented on Melomania P100 / Melomania P100 SE. If you'd like to see this on future builds, give it an upvote! More info on this codec here if you're not already familiar: https://www.whathifi.com/advice/ldac-what-is-it-how-can-you-get-it

Would be nice to have Qobuz Connect implemented like they have on some other brands or systems. Navigating the Qobuz app is much more intuitive and more feature rich than the StreamMagic app. Makes searching for music much easier, and it would be wonderful to directly play on the EVO 150 (or any other CA streaming device), without the need to use Chromecast (limited to 24/96). So like Tidal Connect.
26
Ability to change the display from the StreamMagic app.
