Hi, CA. Firstly, I would like to say how much I love the CX range. I recently purchased a CXN100 to replace my CXNv2 and was very excited after reading about the new features available on the early update. I didn’t hesitate to opt in, hit update and test it out.
I found the room correction didn’t give any benefit for me, if anything it degrades the overall quality of the sound.
The EQ is basic. I think a 10 band EQ would be a much better option with more control over the whole frequency range. It requires frequency markers and a level grid so you know what you’re adjusting and how much you are adjusting each frequency by. Most importantly the option to totally bypass the EQ is essential! When set to ‘Normal’ the EQ still sounds like it’s adjusted the sound. I was disappointed by the overall sound and felt it wasn’t the same quality after the early update was installed so I have turn off early updates and reverted to the previous one.
I would absolutely love to see the option of a functioning graphics equalizer on the actual units display. Being able to flick between the VU meters and having a functioning EQ with visuals would be a great feature that you just don’t see on new equipment. I believe it would be very welcomed by current CX owners and potential customers to.
This update needs a lot of work before it official release.
