Getting very much interested in Cambridge Audio

I am a Devialet user for a long time and I need to think about a replacement for my Devialet that gets a bit old. I am using an Aurender N100 to feed my library via USB to the Devialet. Speakers used are ATC SCM19 v1. I am quite satisfied with the sound of my system, but as said, I am looking to replace my Devialet. Candidates for a replacement would be the new Evo 300, or Edge A. These are really great looking machines and I have to demo them at a nearby dealer. It will be an interesting endeavour.

Hi Paul. Welcome to the community and thanks for sharing!

Both Edge A and Evo 300 are fantastic amplifiers. The obvious advantage to Evo is built-in streaming, but given you are still using the Aurender, that may not be needed. Are you looking to keep that in your system, or simplify everything into one box?

I always recommend finding a local dealer to give you a demo. Having spent a fair bit of time with Evo 300 over the weekend at High End Vienna, I can say that it's a beautiful sounding amp. I have an Evo 75 at home (which I love), but the Evo 300 is a big evolution.

Any questions on this front feel free to give me a shout.

Hello Liam

Indeed, the Aurender makes me independent of having to have a streaming amplifier. It would, I am sure, work perfectly well in combination with the Edge A1. I love its looks so much.

On the other hand, the Evo 300 has a number of advantages, like power (300 watts, a good thing for my notoriously difficult to drive ATCs) and a more modern DAC.

As you say, I'll have some demo sessions at the local Cambridge Audio dealers and decide once I have heard the units. Time will tell.

Evo / Alva Setup

Just wanted to post my kallax-fi setup and say how much I enjoy listening to my records on it. Also have uPNP set up from my Mac using Asset uPNP - lovely seamless setup and can access everything from one app. The Alva ST has a Shibata stylus which sounds great too. Thanks Cambridge!

Thanks for sharing Dan. And welcome to the community. Really glad you're enjoying your kit. This looks like a great setup to enjoy all your music from multiple sources.

Any good records you've picked up recently for the Alva?

My first Hifi setup.

This is my first Hifi setup. It has taken me many years to get something like this. Still thinking about a turntable to go with it. The unit it’s all on is sat on a desk due to two large dogs that have no idea witch direction there back-end is going.  😀

Hi Deen Adenowo. Welcome to the community 🙂 How are you finding Evo One so far?

Alan

Deen Adenowo Welcome. I have had an EVO One for 18 months and whilst it might not be possible you will mostly likely achieve better sound quality if you can position it in free air, because of the way the speaker array is laid out with side and rear firing drivers - from the photo the EVO One appears to be inside a cabinet? Hope you are enjoying your first Cambridge devices.

My new audio setup:

Dynaudio Evoke 30 paired with Cambridge EVO SE 150.

From Dolby etc. back to stereo. Fantastic sound!

I have an EVO SE 150 and Dynaudio Special 40, spectacular sound!

Updated system

Just replaced my Quad vena 2 with the Quad Artera solus and added a Rega phono preamp

Sounds a lot better and the internal cd is most impressive

Edit

Replaced MXN10 with cxn100se👍

See Above!

Hey folks - my first post on here.
An earlier iteration of my set-up is the header image above! I've always been delighted to see Cambridge using my (and other users') pictures. 👍
I moved house three times since that picture and the set-up subsequently evolved into the one attached in our last house in Ireland.
Since then, I've emigrated to Poland and am building a house, so all the gear and my record collectiuon is in storage for 18 months or so... 😢
It's a CXA81 amp, CXN100 streamer, CXC CD, an Alva TT with Ortofon 2M Bronze, Bowers and Wilkins 603s2 Anniversary spoeakers and a (Polish) Feliks Audio Elise headphone amp.

My dream system

CXN100
Haiku Audio SOL III
TDL Monitors

But sometimes I like to go back to physical media and then:

Fonica Bernard GS-431
Pioneer A-400 & PD-9700

THIBAULT

What do you think about the Haiku amp ?

BorQ

One of the best amps I've listened to. Sounding similar to A400, but better in all areas. Enhanced version I would say.

As used item is a sweet spot. As a new from the store newer models are quite expensive. For me SOL III lacks that 'wow' effect that would justify such a high price.
