Any vinyl lover out there should check out SweetVinyl. For years I have touted Cambridge’s CXN V2 as the greatest bang-for-buck gear out there. The versatility, quality of sound and build is way above it’s price point (like most all of Cambridge’s products!). Now, in a different category, the CXN V2 must share that pedestal with the SugarCube SC-1 Mini! SweetVinyl makes several products supporting archiving lp’s to a hard drive. Not my thing. But one feature these units offer is the astounding ability to remove pops and clicks from lp’s with zero degradation to the sound! Not cheap. The entry model is the Mini at $1500. And it’s a bargain! I hate pops and clicks on my records. I find myself listening for them to come back around instead of the music! Very distracting. Now those lp’s you buy used can sound pristeen! It’s line level and can accommodate most any rig. I use it between phono preamp and reciever. Three settings. Pass through with no noise removal. With noise removal and just the clicks it is removing without music. It works with all analog sources so I use an A/B switch to remove tics from lp’s I’ve recorded on cassette!. I’m sure it would do the same for reel-to-reel recorded lp’s. The things amazing. I highly recommend vinyl lovers check it out!
The SugarCube is the small box on the left atop my beloved CXN V2. To the right of it is an A/B switch box to accommodate the cassette deck.
